Delaney’s Compound

Located on a peninsular (1 mile long and 4 blocks wide), it’s a cozy, compact get away that started life as a fishing retreat (circa 1898) and has grown to include a  Guest House, Studio Apartment, Vintage Trailer, and original Main House.

The compound is a great escape!

Golf carts are street legal in Colonial Beach

Ditch the car and enjoy a slower pace. There’s lots to do within walking distance.  Grab your flip flops and take off for a sunrise swim or moonlight stroll. Ride bikes,  hang out at the fire-pit, launch a kayak off the public dock, or chill in the hot tub while you birdwatch (we’ve spotted 77 species so far this summer!  Then finish off the day with a sunset trip to the tiki bar.

The Guest House has a full kitchen as well as 2 bathrooms (1 shower/1tub). It  sleeps four. The second floor bedroom has a full bed & the first floor living room sofa sleeps two. The Guest House was built in 2020 using reclaimed lumber & other charming elements from the original outbuildings. There’s a cozy fireplace for snuggling and a second floor balcony for coffee or cocktails.

The Studio Apartment is a compact efficiency with room for 2 guests. It includes a well equipped kitchen with cooktop, (no oven) fridge, and dining space. There’s a queen bed, TV and private bathroom. Out front there’s a deck and in the back, a covered porch.

A 1970’s vintage trailer is the sweetest summer hide-a-way, with a queen bed and single comfy sofa. It sports a retro kitchen that includes a gas stove, oven and dorm fridge (vegetarian cooking only/meat take-out is ok), and has a composting toilet and hot shower.

The Main House is still under construction -

that’s where you come in :)
