Yes and No.

For a Beach House Barter vacation kids, (aged 13 and up), are welcome as long as they’re willing and able to work. 

However, Writing Escapes allow adults only.

Maybe. The property is fenced and has a small female dog in residence. Your pet  needs to be well socialized, tolerant of you being busy during work hours and  relatively quiet (no continuous barking). This is decided on a case-by-case basis, so  reach out if you can’t make it without bringing them.  

Delaney’s Compound’s has a variety of comfortable accommodations available. 

For Beach House Barter guests: Determining exactly where in the Compound you’ll be housed is made just before you arrive and can’t be  arranged in advance. If you have a strong preference feel free to let me know and we can talk about arrangements prior to arrival.

For Writing Escapes: I ask guests to offer a gift to the Compound commensurate to your experience here. Since some accommodations are more modest, while others are larger and slightly “fancier”; you can select arrangements that best fit your financial means .

For a Beach House Barter vacation, I’ll supply everything we need to complete the project you’ll be working on. Otherwise you just need to bring bed sheets, beach towels (bathing towels are provided), food for cooking meals (you’ll have a full kitchen) and supplies for your vacation fun.

Those arriving for a Writing Escape should bring along bed sheets, beach towels, (bathing towels are provided) food for cooking, and everything else needed for a comfortable stay. You’ll have your own private cooking facilities and there are plenty of restaurants and supermarkets as well.

No, not usually for Bartered stays.

But, if there’s something you’re especially skilled at it might be possible. Please let me know when you reach out on the contact form.

We’re only 6 hours from NYC by car  

Train is an option via the NE Regional to Fredericksburg Virginia.  Transportation from Fredericksburg to Colonial Beach (30 miles) is possible  during daytime hours only. This needs to be arranged in advance and costs $25 per  person. Uber may also be feasible but I highly suggest you arrange this in advance  as availability is known to fluctuate. The last time I used Uber it was $75.
